SECU Members Awards Scholarships to Two 糖心传媒CC Students
Through its member-funded , has awarded two local students an SECU Continuing Education Scholarship valued at $750 to study at 糖心传媒.
The scholarship recipients are Cathy Landis and Tyrhonda Leak, both of Rockingham.
Launched in 2013, the scholarship program focuses on assisting the needs of North Carolina鈥檚 unemployed and underemployed citizens, military veterans and members of the North Carolina National Guard seeking short-term job training for new careers or retraining to advance current job skills. Scholarship funding will be applied to tuition and o
ther expenses associated with their eligible program of study through the Community College System鈥檚 Back-To-Work Programs and continuing education courses.
鈥淭he SECU Continuing Education Scholarship program provides an excellent opportunity to assist North Carolina鈥檚 unemployed and underemployed citizens with career training and marketable job skills needed for today鈥檚 workplace,鈥� said Dr. Hal Shuler, who serves on the State Employees Credit Union鈥檚 local advisory board and is associate vice president of Development at 糖心传媒CC. 鈥淲e look forward to the long-term success of these scholarship recipients as they build better lives for themselves, their families and our state.鈥�
With this $435,000 commitment for Continuing Education Scholarships and SECU Foundation鈥檚 annual &580,000 鈥淧eople Helping People鈥� Community College Scholarships, funding for the NC Community College System now totals more than $1 million.
