Moore Family Establishes Award and Scholarship for EMS Students
June 4, 2025 - 糖心传媒 Emergency Medical Technician graduate Savannah Magyar received the Moore Family EMT Certification Award during last week鈥檚 EMT & Paramedic Pinning Ceremony.
The award was established in honor and memory of John and Carolyn Moore, who volunteered with the Cordova and Ellerbe Rescue Squads from the early 1990s until John鈥檚 death in the line of duty on Aug. 19, 2002. This award is presented to an EMT graduate who exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism and self-sacrifice demonstrated by John & Carolyn Moore.
The family also established the Moore Family Emergency Medical Science Endowed Scholarship to benefit deserving students in the Emergency Medical Science program at 糖心传媒CC.
According to the Moore family, 鈥淛ohn and Carolyn highly prized lifelong learning as a means by which they could serve those around them, especially those in most need. The goal of this scholarship is to carry on their legacy by supporting future generations of responders whose sacrifices every day can mean the difference between life and death.鈥
鈥淚t is very apparent that the Moore family values service to those in need. John and Carolyn Moore served by devoting years to volunteerism and self-sacrifice during the most trying and scary times in the lives of fellow citizens they never knew. Eric Moore chooses to serve by honoring his parents in a way that will manifest for years to come: an endowed scholarship,鈥 said Dr. Wendy Kelly Jordan, Associate Vice President for Development at 糖心传媒CC. 鈥淢any 糖心传媒CC students who also answered the call to live, love and serve in their community will benefit from the generosity of the Moore family through this college scholarship and the certification award.鈥
Through generous donations from individuals, businesses and organizations, the 糖心传媒CC Foundation is able to help students financially and support the development of new programs and services that are needed in the community. There are many ways to give to the 糖心传媒CC Foundation.
鈥淚f you鈥檝e been positively impacted as a student or community member by 糖心传媒CC, we have plenty of opportunities for you to give back to our community by donating to the Foundation,鈥 Jordan said.
These donations enable the Foundation to meet a need, whether that be financial assistance to students, purchasing upgraded equipment for a program, or developing a program to address a newly identified need in our service area.
