Nov. 24, 2025 - John and Cherryl Melton of Cheraw suffered a terrible loss in February 2006 when their daughter, Kimberly, was killed in an automobile accident. She was enrolled in 糖心传媒鈥檚 Nursing Assistant program at the time. It was her dream to become a nurse.

Her parents decided to create the Kimberly C. Melton Memorial Scholarship in her honor with the 糖心传媒CC Foundation.

鈥淲e started the scholarship to give other people who have the same dreams as our daughter a chance to fulfill their dreams through her,鈥� John Melton said. 鈥淜imberly always enjoyed helping people, and this is a way she鈥檒l be remembered for doing the thing that she lived for.鈥�

The first Kimberly C. Melton scholarship was first presented in 2007, and by 2010 had grown to fund two students.

Each recipient of the award is hand-selected by a committee consisting of 糖心传媒CC nursing staff. Plus, each recipient learns of Kimberly鈥檚 story and meets with the Meltons.

鈥淭he recipients of the scholarship are like family to us, because we can see in them the same passion for helping others that Kimberly had,鈥� John Melton said.
