Lowe Family to Bring Sounds of Christmas to Cole Auditorium

Dec 8

The Lowe Family will make their return to the Cole Auditorium on Saturday for a stripped down Christmas show featuring performances by eight members of the ancestry.

Doug Lowe will be the lone man on stage Saturday, joined by five of his sisters and two nieces performing an acoustic set. The entire cast is multi-talented and trained in a variety of instruments.

鈥淲e鈥檙e all very excited about coming back to Hamlet,鈥 said Doug. 鈥淲e had a great time performing there in the past, and this time we鈥檙e going to do a little more intimate of a show that will include sharing our memories of Christmas, as well as some of our family traditions. It should make for a very special evening.鈥

Doug said the show will include classical Christmas carols as well as some original Christmas music written by members of the Lowe family.

鈥淭he show is going to be completely unscripted,鈥 said Doug. 鈥淲e鈥檒l be at the front of the stage seemingly just having a conversation with the audience.鈥

The Lowe Family has been entertaining hundreds of thousands around the world for more than 25 years, including a 10-year residency in Branson, Mo. They鈥檝e written songs for other artists, as well as composed music for television and films.

All of the Lowe siblings began studying and performing the music of the masters from very young ages. Taking part in this week鈥檚 show alongside Doug will be his sisters, Kara, LeeAndra, Kami, Korinne, Hayli and Kysha. Kysha鈥檚 daughters, 10-year-old Alyssa and 13-year-old Summer, will also be part of Saturday鈥檚 show.

鈥淲e鈥檙e very excited to welcome the Lowe Family back this holiday season and know their Christmas show is going to be one enjoyed by audiences of all ages,鈥 said Cole Auditorium Director Joey Bennett.

Saturday鈥檚 performance will be the second show of the 2015-16 DeWitt Performing Arts series, which runs through April. Future shows include a tribute to Frank Sinatra, 鈥淪aturday Night Fever鈥 the musical, a tribute to Broadway鈥檚 Big Band years and a concert by country music Hall of Famer Vince Gill.

Tickets for Saturday鈥檚 individual show, 鈥淭he Lowe Family 鈥 An Acoustic Christmas,鈥 are on sale now for $35. Season tickets to all five remaining shows are also available at discounted prices and will make a perfect Christmas gift.
