Cockman: Teaching Is Honorable Profession
Oct. 31, 2025 - Last year, the Lindy and Claudia Cockman family established the Roberta Clyde Edwards Gore Endowment Scholarship for Future Teachers with the 糖心传媒CC Foundation. This scholarship is for 糖心传媒 students pursuing a career in education, just as Mrs. Roberta Clyde Edwards Gore had done for almost 40 years.
鈥淚 think that 糖心传媒 is a vital part of this community and serves students well,鈥 said Claudia Cockman, daughter of Mrs. Gore. 鈥淚t is a wonderful steppingstone for those who want to pursue a career in education.鈥
Mrs. Cockman said she and her husband I.L. 鈥淟indy鈥 Cockman felt this scholarship was a great way to honor her mother鈥檚 life and passion for teaching.
鈥淚 am proud that these students are choosing education as their career choice. I can鈥檛 think of another career that one should be prouder to have. Teachers are an essential part of the future,鈥 Mrs. Cockman said. 鈥淚t makes me very proud when someone chooses to go into that profession.鈥
When asked what she would say to students benefitting from the Roberta Clyde Edwards Gore Endowment Scholarship, she said, 鈥淚 just hope it will help others go into this honorable profession of teaching and hopefully will benefit out county. We hope that some of the students will choose to use this as an opportunity to come back to this community to teach,鈥 Mrs. Cockman said.
